Exploring Spasticity

Spasticity is characterized by tight, stiff muscles that make movement, especially of the arms or legs, difficult or uncontrollable. Common conditions associated with spasticity include cerebral palsy, brain injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis, or spinal cord injury.

Exploring Spasticity is an educational program created to raise awareness about spasticity, bring those who are affected together to share their personal stories and coping strategies, and empower patients and family caregivers to seek treatment. This program is sponsored by Medtronic and a consortium of patient advocacy groups with a common interest in helping people who are affected by spasticity.

If you or someone you love has spasticity, we invite you to participate in Exploring Spasticity by submitting a written or artistic entry.

View www.exploringspasticity.com or call 1.800.731.2921 for more information on this year's contest rules, entry form, and deadlines. The Web site also offers general spasticity information, treatment options, and further resources.
